Fact
of the day: apparently 10 people die during British Airways flights every year...
So,
imagine the surprise of a guy in first class on a flight from Delhi to London,
in February. He probably didn't know that fact when he woke up to find air stewards
quietly putting a dead woman in a seat near him.
The
man, speaking to the Sunday Times (London), said that he first thought the woman
was ill, but was shocked to discover, later, that she was in fact dead.
According
to a statement we saw on cbc.ca, British Airways defended their actions by quoting
the following procedures:
"The
deceased must not be placed in the galley or blocking aisles or exits, and there
should be clear space around the deceased...
The
wishes of family or friends traveling with the deceased will always be considered,
and account taken of the reactions of other passengers."
