So,
the best film of 2006 was The Departed, and Martin Scorsese, at last, gets
a Best Director Oscar... congrats to everybody... but what about the movies to
avoid?
The
Golden Raspberry Awards, from Razzies.com, in a ceremony held before the Oscar's,
announced that Basic Instinct 2 (renamed Basically It Stinks Too) was the
worst film of 2006. It won four Razzies in total:
- Worst
Movie
- Worst
Actress (Sharon Stone)
- Worst
Screenplay
- Worst
Sequel
Little
Man, from The Wayans brothers, a movie about a tiny thief who disguises himself
as a baby, was awarded the Razzie for worst remake or rip-off (it apparently ripped-off
the 1954 Bugs Bunny cartoon "Baby Buggy Bunny") along with two other
'awards' (Worst Actor, Worst Screen Couple - The Wayan Brothers themselves)
In
a new category this year, the Worst Excuse For Family Entertainment (Saluting
the Celebs We're ALL Sick & Tired Of!):
- RV,
the Robin Williams vehicle.
The
awards began in 1980. Winners receive (if they bother to turn up) a $5 spray painted
Raspberry trophy.
