According
to a report we have seen on the internet, election officials in Grand Haven, Michigan,
have been left with red faces when the word public appeared on a ballot paper
as pubic.
The
word public appeared 6 times on the paper, only once misspelled.
170,000
ballots are affected and they are being reprinted at a cost of $40,000.
The
ballot was for a proposed amendment to the state constitution which would ban
some forms of affirmative action.
It
is possible that 6 people missed the mistake when they proofed the papers before
it went to the printers the first time.
