The
world dive bombing champion has been crowned in a swimming pool in the western
German town of Heilbronn.
The
winner was Simon Gfeller from Muensingen, Switzerland.
His dive of four turns followed by a spectacular landing on his face impressed
the judges and the crowd alike. He got extra points for not crying from the pain.
Dive
bombing is the ability to make as much noise and splash when you hit the water
as possible. Sometimes known as a 'belly flop', it hurts like hell.
"Dive-bombing
is an extreme sport," said organizer Oliver Schill, 36.
Competitors
had three attempts from the 10-metre board, including one classic backwards dive
and two 'freestyle' attempts.

soon: Synchronized dive bombing?
