A
93-year-old Lithuanian woman, with hands hardened by years of milking goats, fought
back when two men broke into her property by grabbing one of them where it hurts
most.
Soja
Popova was thrown to the ground when two robbers pushed through a door she had
opened.
But
she recovered and grabbed one of the men in the privates, squeezing "with
all my force as hard as I could".
She
told police:
"He
started screaming like an animal and his friend was trying to pull him free, but
I have a grip like iron."
Neighbors
heard the man's screams of agony and his friend's frantic calls for the woman
to let go, and called the police.
The
two men escaped through a bedroom window and were then stopped in the street
where a police car had arrived to take one man to jail, and the other to hospital.
A
police spokesman said:
"They
would not have got far, one of them could hardly walk and seemed pleased when
he saw the police car. He demanded that he be taken to hospital because he was
in so much pain."
