Marilyn Monroe stands over a subway vent and the air blows her skirt up while
she laughs. The scene was filmed for the movie 'The Seven Year Itch'. Monroe's
husband, Joe DiMaggio, was not impressed. He thought it was exhibitionistic. They
would divorce soon after. |

RAF Win 'The Battle of Britain' | On
this day the Royal Air Force downed 56 German fighter planes in a dogfight over
Britain. It lasted less than an hour, but it was one of the major turning points
of World War 2. As
a result of this victory, Britain was seen as too dangerous for a German invasion.
'Operation Sea Lion', Hitler's plans for an amphibious invasion of the islands,
