Mr
Medina Perez was Cuba's commercial attaché. He drew a gun and fired it
in the Bayswater area of London on this day. A British secret service agent was
injured. Perez, along with the Cuban ambassador, Oscar Fernandez-Mell, were expelled
from the country. It
appears that Mr Perez had noticed a number of people shadowing him as he walked
back to his flat. It
was alleged that Florentino Azpillaga, a former Cuban intelligence agent, was
one of those following him. Azpillaga tried to persuade Perez to defect. Mr Perez
then drew his gun and fired. |
