1975 The Thrilla In Manilla

In front of 25,000 fans, Heavyweight Champion Muhammed Ali won one of the most talked about fights in history, on this day, by defeating Joe Frazier.

Frazier was persuaded to retire from the fight in the 14th round.

After winning, Ali described how he felt as:

"the closest thing to dying."

He told reporters:

"I'm so tired I want to rest for a week. My hips are sore, my arms are sore, my side is sore, my hands are sore."
