1512 Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel Opens To The Public

The ceiling in the Sistine Chapel is, in our humble opinion, one of the most stunning achievements in art anywhere in the world. It was revealed to the public for the first time on this day.

Michelangelo Buonarroti arrived in Rome in 1508 to begin work on the Sistine Chapel.

The most famous piece is the Creation of Adam in which Adam and God's fingers are almost touching as they reach out to each other.
