The First Human To Run A Mile In Under Four Minutes | It
was achieved by 25 year old medical student Roger Bannister who managed a mile
in 3 minutes and 59.4 seconds. The
four minute mile barrier had become something of a psychological mountain, with
some experts predicting it was impossible to break. Bannister
used his own cutting edge scientific techniques to aid his training for the event. |

pride of Nazi Germany burst into flames at Lakehurst, New Jersey, killing 36 passengers
and crewmembers. The

Elizabeth II and French President Francois Mitterand preside over the ceremony
which linked the two countries for the first time since the Ice Age. The
