Anna May Dietrich Disappears |
Philadelphia: David Marshall hires chauffeur E.J. Barry to take away parcels from
his office. But as Barry picks up one of the packages, a human leg falls out.
Marshall unsuccessfully attempts to pay off Barry but even so he only goes to
the authorities when the story appears in the newspapers the next day. Under
police interrogation, Marshall changed his story and said that Dietrich had killed
herself and that he cut up her body to hide the affair they were having. At trial
the jury took into account the 'morals' of the victim and Marshall (a chiropractor)
was paroled in 10 years. |
