Peter
Manuel is arrested in Glasgow, Scotland, after a series of attacks over two years,
in which he murdered 9. Manuel
was convicted of burglary at the age of 12. By the time he was 15, he had moved
on to assault. Four years after that, Manuel received an eight-year sentence for
a sexual attack. Soon
after his release he killed a 19-year-old woman in Scotland by bludgeoning her
to death during a burglary. He was arrested and charged for another burglary,
but while awaiting trial late in 1957, Manuel killed an entire family when a burglary
went wrong. On
New Year's Eve, Manuel committed another multiple murder, killing a woman and
her children. The victim's husband was arrested for the crime and remained in
jail until Manuel came forward. Manuel told the authorities that another man was
responsible for the murder. Police released the husband, but, when they investigated
further, they realized that Manuel must have done it. Manuel was arrested and
hanged later in the year. |
