1962-1971:
19 million gallons of defoliating herbicides were dropped by U.S. personnel over
10-20% of Vietnam and parts of Laos. Agent
Orange was the most frequently used defoliating agent. The use of this chemical
was controversial both because of fears for those handling it, as well as those
being sprayed with it. Reports
of malformed babies began in the 1970's in the areas sprayed by the defoliant. |
