Arbuckle was accused of the manslaughter of starlet Virginia Rappe. Rappe died of a ruptured bladder several days after the 350-pound Arbuckle allegedly sexually assaulted her at a wild drinking party in San Francisco.

Arbuckle was eventually acquitted after a second hung jury, but his career was in ruins and his films were banned.

He would eventually direct two movies and several short films under the pseudonym William Goodrich. Arbuckle died in 1933, at the age of 46.
