He was one of the most popular entertainers of his time, a great wit and actor.

He appeared in a number of movies: Happy Days (1929), A Connecticut Yankee (1929), and Ambassador Bill (1931). He was also a regular on the radio where his folksy wit won him many fans.

The plane in which he was flying, with his friend, Wiley Post, crashed in Alaska.
