Borghese of Italy won the 8000 mile, 62 day race from Peking to Paris on this
day. During
the race we had to contend with a brush fire, got stuck in a swamp, and was pulled
over by a policeman in Belgium who seems to have refused to believe he was in
a race and wasn't just speeding. |

was actually called Candid Microphone when it started it's TV run on this day.
It had been a successful radio show, hence the name. The
format of the show was to film unsuspecting people in comic situations. The
show's host in the US was Alan Funt. |
