Littleton, Colorado: Two students, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, kill 12 students and a teacher. They wounded 23, then turned the guns on themselves to commit suicide.

They shot people at random; they were found to not be associated with any group.

Their original plan seems to have been to have two bombs explode in the cafeteria, forcing people out into their line of fire. The bombs failed to go off.
