If
you look at the New York Times website they have put the
USA at the top of the medals table because they have ranked
the table by total number of medals, a gold is equal to
a silver, and a bronze etc....

In
the official IOC medal table used everywhere else in the
world, the USA is second to China. This is because the IOC
ranks the tables by golds, then silvers etc, so giving a
higher ranking to the golds and then the silvers etc...

But
is the IOC right to do this? Our panel of American experts
give us their views.
