Awarding
the DVD Copyright Warning Award 2006 to Island Vidvorun, the judges said
the island's DVD copyright warning was:
"One
of the most pithy DVD copyright warnings we have ever seen."
The
runners-up in this years awards were Germany which included the sentence:
"Die
Nutzung fur nicht gewerbliche Zwecke im privaten Bereich be-inhaltet nicht die
Vorfuhrung in Clubs, Reisebussen, Krankenhausrn, Hotels, Gefangrissen, Schulen,
auf Bohrinseln, etc."
And
Italy, for what the judges said was 'pure DVD copyright warning poetry':
"Questo
DVD non puo essere espotato, distribuito o venduto al di furori del territorio
dell'Unione Europea, senza espressa autorizzazione della Warner Home Video."
DVD
copyright warnings, which appear at the end of the presentation, are ignored by
most people who watch DVDs, especially in countries where they have to sit through
20 warnings before getting to the one in their own language. The
DVD Copyright Warning Award was originally founded to help popularize the
warning process.
Here,
we have a 4 minute and 42 second video tribute highlighting the cutting edge of
Region 2 DVD Copyright Warnings. Enjoy.
