Harriet,
the 175 year old Giant Galapagos tortoise who lives in Australia Zoo on Queensland's
Sunshine Coast, has been named Man of the Year by the Vegetable Magazine.
Harriet,
a vegetarian, enjoys a strict vegetable diet which includes green beans and celery.
Barney
White, editor of the Vegetable Magazine, told us:
"It's
a radical step for the magazine. We have never named anything other than a vegetable
as our Man of the Year before. Last year our Man of the Year was a Brussels Sprout."
The
Vegetable Magazine, which has a readership of over 17,000, caused controversy
in 2002 when it short-listed President George W Bush as it's Man of the Year.
After a close vote, however, President Bush lost to a leek.
